Dear Fort Zumwalt West Families,

We hope you are having a wonderful summer where you can rest and enjoy opportunities spending time with those who are close to you.  Spending time with family and friends allows for such a rich opportunity to build memories!

I wanted to take a minute and let you know about a transition West is making for next school year.  As you know, Dr. Ed Dreyer has retired as principal and we appreciate all of his years of commitment and service to the West community.  I am very grateful for his support during this transition.  

I am incredibly honored to be the next Principal of Fort Zumwalt West High School.  I have been in education for more than 20 years, where I taught reading and English Language Arts classes before becoming an administrator.  I have worked with many educators along the way and I am excited to work with the fantastic students, staff, and families at West!

As parents of three children, my wife and I know the importance of having a school community where ALL students are valued, have a sense of belonging, are safe, and are provided the highest level of academics.  This coming year, there will be many opportunities for students to get involved in areas of their interests where our staff are ready to provide the best educational experiences.  

As you prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, please take a look at our Back to School Headquarters that is located on our website. There is important information located there as we transition to the Fall semester.  Important events to highlight are:

Freshmen Welcome: August 20th 9:00 AM - noon

First Day of School: August 25th

It is my hope that whenever you attend an event, that you feel free to say ”Hello!” Getting to know our West community is very important to me.  We appreciate all of our West families and we look forward to a great year with ALL of our students!
