🌟 Growing Leaders at Rock Creek—At School and At Home 🌟
Each new school year brings opportunities for growth—not just in academics, but in all areas of development. At Rock Creek, we believe it’s important that students don’t just graduate knowledgeable—we want them to grow into healthy, engaged, responsible, and caring people, too.
One of the best ways to help your child realize their worth and leadership potential is by giving them opportunities to lead. Through Leader in Me, our students practice leadership daily at school. But did you know you can also support this at home?
Why Leadership Roles Matter...
Student leadership roles—whether in the classroom or at home—help teach:
✅ Responsibility
✅ Leadership
✅ Contribution
Getting Started at Home
Here are some steps to help you create a leadership role for your child at home:
Talk with your student about a role they might enjoy.
Discuss why they’re interested in it and what leadership qualities they bring.
Work together to set expectations and talk about balancing responsibilities (like homework) with their new role.
At-Home Leadership Role Ideas:
🌱 Gardener: caring for plants indoors or outdoors
💻 Technology Lead: making sure devices are charged and ready
🧹 Floor Leader: keeping floors clean and clutter-free
🍳 Assistant Chef: helping out in the kitchen
After a week or so, sit down with your child to talk about how it’s going. You might be surprised at the pride and ownership they take in their new role!
At Rock Creek, we know leadership isn’t just something you practice... it’s something you live. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child grow as a leader at school and at home. 🌟
