We NEED Your Help: Bring in FROZEN TURKEYS Wednesday 11/19 at Arrival🦃🦃🦃 |
Thank you for your generosity and for ALREADY bringing in $1,175.97 for the No Hunger Holiday Turkey Drive! WOW! I am thankful for the most AMAZING school and generous community. This is going to help so many families in our area. |
ROCK CREEK — Let’s do it again!
Last year, we brought in the most turkeys out of ALL Fort Zumwalt elementary schools during the No Hunger Holiday Turkey Drive! 🥇 Way to go, Rock Creek!
This year, we’re setting a big goal: 125 turkeys to help families right here in our own community. We know this holiday season is especially hard for many, and we can make a real difference together.
🦃 Bring in FROZEN TURKEYS: November 19 AT ARRIVAL
If we hit our goal… every student will enjoy: 🎉 Pajama Day ☀️ Extra Recess 🦃 And… Dr. Dierker & Mrs. McCoy dancing in Turkey Costumes!
PLUS — the grade level that brings in the most will earn a Movie & Snack Party!
Let’s fill those freezers and show the community what Rock Creek pride looks like! 💙💛

🌟 Rock Creek Highlights of the Week! 🌟 |
What an amazing week it’s been at Rock Creek, full of celebration, learning, and community from start to finish! 🚀
The major highlight of our week was celebrating our community's Veterans on Tuesday, November 11th, for Veterans Day. It was truly moving to see our students show such deep respect and gratitude for the many members of our community who have given such a large sacrifice for our country and for all of us. It was also a day for our various student leaders to SHINE ✨ and showcase their wonderful talents in honor of our guests. We are so proud of them!
This week also included our early out day. While students were home, our staff engaged in important learning and collaborative work. 🧑🏫 👩🏫 Our teams were focused on thinking through the needs of all students as we continually work to provide meaningful interventions and supports to help every child succeed.
We also came together for a fantastic student-led assembly where everyone learned more about The Habits (from The Leader in Me) and got to spend quality time with their school family. 💙
It's weeks like this that truly show how special our Rock Creek community is. Thank you to all our students, staff, and families for making it so great!

🦃 A Season of Gratitude: Thanksgiving is Almost Here! 🍁 |
With Thanksgiving Break just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to focus on one of the most powerful habits of all: Gratitude! This break offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down and practice thankfulness as a family.
It's more than just good manners... it's a mindset! Research shows that practicing gratitude has real, positive impacts on our brains and well-being. 🧠 Regularly naming and showing thankfulness can help reduce stress, boost happiness, strengthen relationships, and build resilience. We encourage our students (and everyone!) to search for and find gratitude in the little things each and every day.
Want to try it as a family over the break? Here are a few simple ideas:
|
|
|
Dinner Table Thanks: Go around the dinner table and have each person share one thing from their day they are thankful for (big or small!) |
|
A Gratitude Jar: 🏺 Set out an empty jar and slips of paper. Have family members write down things they are thankful for all week and read them together on Thanksgiving Day. |
|
Thank-You Notes: 💌 Encourage your child to write a short note, draw a picture, or send a text to someone they are thankful for—a friend, a grandparent, or even a community helper! |
|
A 'Thankful Walk': 🚶♀️ 🚶♂️ Take a walk together (rain or shine!) and point out the simple things you're grateful for—a cozy home, a funny dog, or just spending time together. |
|
|
Let's fill this Thanksgiving Break with warmth and thankfulness. We are certainly so very grateful for our wonderful Rock Creek students, staff, and families! 💙 |
