PROGRESSING EVERY DAY, EACH CHILD, EVERY WAY!

Parent Teacher Conferences

We loved seeing so many families in the building for parent-teacher conferences! These meetings are such an important time to connect, celebrate student growth, and discuss goals for the months ahead. We also sent home AMI Packets (Alternate Methods of Instruction) during conferences. These packets will be used if we have a snow day so students can continue learning from home. Completing the AMI work counts toward attendance, which means those days will not have to be made up at the end of the year. If you did not get to meet with your child's teacher, please make sure to reach out to them regarding the AMI Packets. Thank you for taking the time to meet with teachers and for partnering with us to support your child’s success—your involvement makes all the difference!

A Note from Dr. Williams

Happy November!

I hope you and your family had a restful and relaxing Fall Break. It’s hard to believe we’ve already wrapped up Quarter 1!

As the weather turns colder, please make sure your child has a weather-appropriate change of clothes in their backpack—no shorts, please. This helps in case of spills, accidents, or other unexpected messes throughout the day.

We’re also looking forward to our Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 11th, at 9:00 AM. Please complete the Google Form in the “Remember To” section if you or a family member plan to attend so we can plan accordingly.

A quick reminder: if you have any transportation changes, please call the office before 1:30 PM. Students are not permitted to use personal electronic devices during the school day (per SB68), so messages sent directly to them will not be received. It also becomes difficult to make adjustments after that time.

For before-school clubs, drop-off is between 7:00–7:05 AM. If you arrive after that window, staff will not be available to let students inside. Please plan to arrive on time so your child can participate safely.

Lastly, per district policy, only service animals are permitted on school property. Thank you for your care and cooperation with these procedures.

With Partnership,

Remember to:

  • Check your child’s Leadership Binder each night.

  • Spend time reading with your child at home.

  • Sign up for the Veterans' Day Assembly if you plan to attend and haven't already. You can see the flyer here.

Celebrations

Dr. St. Pierre visited our building twice this month in an effort to deliver the Triple E Impact Award to our October recipient. We look forward to revealing their identity once they’re able to connect with him! Stay tuned for the announcement in next month’s update.

Ms. McCollum’s Kindergarten class went above and beyond, raising the most money schoolwide for our Dance-A-Thon fundraiser! To celebrate their incredible effort, the class enjoyed a well-deserved extra recess, popsicles, a special teacher gift, and a surprise visit from a mystery reader—our very own DARE officer, Mrs. Misuraca, who read Crankenstein to the students. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our entire PSE community, we also met our schoolwide goal of $30,000! We had Pizza with the Principals with the 36 top raising students. As promised, the principals will be camping out on the roof in the coming days (weather permitting) to mark this exciting accomplishment.

Upcoming iReady Assessments

Kindergarten students will take their first i-Ready Math Diagnostic next week. This assessment helps teachers identify each child’s current understanding of math concepts and tailor instruction to meet their individual needs. It’s not something students need to study for—it simply provides a snapshot of what they already know and what they’re ready to learn next.

In addition, students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades will take the i-Ready Standards Mastery assessment. This short, focused check-in allows teachers to monitor progress on specific grade-level standards and adjust instruction accordingly. These assessments are valuable tools that guide classroom teaching and ensure every student continues to grow throughout the year. Parents can support their child by encouraging a good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and a positive mindset about doing their best.

Leader in Me – Habit of the Month: Put First Things First

In November, our focus will be on Leader in Me Habit 3: Put First Things First. This habit teaches students the importance of prioritizing what matters most—planning ahead, staying organized, and focusing on responsibilities before recreation.

Throughout the month, classrooms will highlight ways students can manage their time effectively, make responsible choices, and balance work with fun. Lessons and activities will encourage students to identify their “big rocks”—the most important tasks or goals—and to follow through with focus and self-discipline.

Families can support this habit at home by helping children create simple routines, set priorities for homework and chores, and celebrate their effort and follow-through.
