A message from the Superintendent, Dr. Henry St. Pierre with FZSD logo and his yearbook photo

From the Superintendent

As we launch the second semester of the school year, I am excited to share many achievements with you, as well as some updates on important district business matters.

First, Fort Zumwalt earned a 96 percent on our latest Annual Performance Report, our report card from the state. This achievement is a reflection and a result of the combined commitment of our community and our staff to our mission to Educate, Empower and Equip Students to Excel. It takes us all. Every one contributes to this success: the teachers inspiring in classrooms; the Special Services team providing that extra support for the kids who need it most; the bus drivers ensuring safe rides; the nutrition staff fueling learning; the custodians and maintenance team keeping our spaces safe and welcoming; the technology and office professionals keeping operations running smoothly; the substitutes doing whatever it takes to fill a need; the security team keeping our campuses safe; and the leaders, both by position and the many who lead without a title, helping to show the way. It takes the active engagement of parents and guardians, the support of our residents and business owners and our many volunteers. Each role matters—and each of you makes a difference.

Update on FZ bond issue projects

Since voters approved FZ Prop 4 in 2022, the Facilities Department has completed at least one project at every building in the district, with the exception of District Office, Student Nutrition and PDTC. In September, the Board heard an overview of the projects in various phases, and a report from Dr. Henry St. Pierre, Superintendent, on the status of bond funds.
Regardless of the type of project, costs have dramatically risen for materials, labor and even permitting. St. Pierre told the Board that the conditions have changed since the original planning for Prop 4 began, well before its passage in 2022. At the Board’s request, the district conducted a survey to ensure an understanding of the community’s priorities for usage of the remaining bond funds. Learn about survey results and future steps

Our printed newsletter is going away

We strive to connect with all of our neighbors, but printing and mailing are becoming cost prohibitive. At the end of this school year, our quarterly printed newsletter will be going away. Please encourage FZSD residents to Subscribe for this quarterly electronic update. Strong schools are found in strong communities. We appreciate your helping everyone stay connected to our mission to Educate, Empower and Equip Students to Excel.

Connect with our schools

  • Attend a game or see a show. Senior Passes will be available beginning in August. Residents older than 55 can pick-up a Senior Pass to Fort Zumwalt activities at our District Office. You will have to show ID to prove you qualify. Passes are good for many events at Fort Zumwalt high schools. Not good for Tournaments or MSHSAA postseason play.

  • Empower your early learner. FZSD Parents as Teachers provides families with essential resources, developmental guidance, and support for children ages birth to 5 years. Families who participate are more likely to have students who arrive at kindergarten ready to learn, both academically and socially. They even provide developmental screenings, giving families and educators insight on how to best support each individual learner. Check out go.FZSD.us/Kindergarten for more information on enrolling your student. Or, share the link to sign up for a screening.

  • Join us for Soup's On! Twice each year our Superintendent hosts a luncheon for residents older than 55. Our 2025-2026 events are scheduled for Oct. 23 and April 2. Register by email or call District Office at 636-240-2072, BY MARCH 16 for our upcoming event.

  • Support your school's community projects.

  • Donate to help with lunch balances or stock our weekend backpack pantry.

  • Visit our fz.k12.mo.us for regular updates in our LiveFeed.
