League of Leaders Visits Dardenne |
Students at Dardenne Elementary recently enjoyed a special visit from members of the League of Leaders from West High School. These high school leaders spend time with our students during lunch several times throughout the school year, building connections and sharing their experiences.
During their visits, the League of Leaders talks with students about their interests, activities, and goals. They encourage younger learners to explore opportunities available to them as they grow—whether that means playing baseball, joining a dance team, participating in clubs, or one day marching in the high school band. The conversations help students see how their current interests can develop into future passions.
These visits are always a highlight for our students. Meeting positive role models from West High allows them to begin envisioning their future while feeling inspired to work hard, stay involved, and pursue their interests. The partnership is a meaningful way to connect our schools and motivate students to become leaders in their own journeys. |
We are in the home stretch of the third quarter, and Spring Break is only three weeks away!
On Friday, February 27, we kicked off our Walk-A-Thon with a special assembly. Students left the event excited to continue working toward our playground updates, and they are already looking forward to receiving their new Walk-A-Thon shirts on April 1. Our PTC generously provides a shirt for every student at Dardenne Elementary, helping build school spirit and making this event extra special for everyone.
More information about the Walk-A-Thon can be found on our district website.
This month, we are also sharing a Parent Input Survey for the 2026–27 school year. Parents are encouraged to provide information about their child to assist us as we begin thinking about class placement. While we are not able to honor specific teacher requests, this input helps us better understand each child’s strengths, characteristics, and learning needs as we work to create balanced classrooms.
Next year, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teams will be departmentalizing. This means students will have a homeroom teacher but will switch classes throughout the day for different subjects. This structure allows our teachers to specialize in one content area and provides students with a more focused learning experience. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, March 27. Please look for the survey link below. DES Parent Input Survey 26-27 Thank you for your continued partnership and support! Sincerely, Dr. Beth Allen Principal |

Congratulations to Mr. Nathan Totaro, a special education teacher, on earning the Triple E Impact Award. Dr. St. Pierre stopped by to personally congratulate this outstanding educator.
Mr. Totaro goes above and beyond to ensure our students receive high-quality instruction. He is consistently positive and supportive, working hard to build strong relationships with each student. He recognizes their potential and is dedicated to helping them make meaningful progress toward their goals. During meetings, he takes great care to ensure parents understand the progress their child is making and how they can best support learning at home. We are very grateful to have him as part of our team.

| Celebrating Black History Month |
During the month of February, students and staff at Dardenne Elementary celebrated Black History Month by learning about the many influential Black Americans who have helped shape our nation’s history.
A special display highlighted notable individuals and their contributions in areas such as science, government, athletics, the arts, and civil rights. This visual learning space gave students the opportunity to explore history, ask questions, and make connections to the impact these leaders have had on our world today.
In addition, classrooms participated in a fun and engaging schoolwide bingo activity during morning announcements. Each day, Mrs. Davenport shared a clue connected to a famous Black American, and students and teachers worked together to determine who the person was. When a class earned a bingo, each student received a bookmark featuring a notable figure along with information about that individual’s achievements.
These activities provided meaningful opportunities for our students to celebrate history, expand their knowledge, and recognize the importance of perseverance, leadership, and positive contributions to society. |

At Dardenne Elementary, our Knights are learning the importance of “sharpening the saw,” or taking care of themselves so they can be their best each day. Students are discovering that healthy habits—such as getting enough rest, exercising regularly, eating nutritious foods, and getting plenty of sleep—help them stay focused and ready to learn.
We also talk about the importance of caring for our minds. One way to do this is by minimizing screen time and choosing to open a great book instead. Reading, relaxing, and spending time away from devices can help students recharge and strengthen their thinking.
Our Knights understand that having balance in their lives is an important part of becoming strong learners and good leaders. By taking care of both their bodies and their minds, they are building habits that will help them succeed now and in the future. |
